Do you use an elliptical trainer?

I did not want to run on the treadmill yesterday after pulling, so I used the elliptical. I had no idea what I was doing, so I stayed between level 0 and level 4 for 30 minutes. I had a good sweat when I finished. What is a good workout beginner through on this machine? Is it fair levels or are there other factors?

I use elliptical trainers for a good year and a half now. I prefer them over treadmills because you will not harm your knees because of the impact, as you would on an elliptical. A good workout would be to do some 10 minutes on a level hard to build muscle, then 20 minutes on the easier to burn fat, then after you get used to simply increase resistance levels and the duration of your workout. It depends on your cardiovascular fitness level it is difficult for you or not and how much of the sweat you work up.
