elliptical calorie counter accurate
How accurate are the calorie counters and distance on treadmills and elliptical machines?
The cardio equipment to my gym allows you to enter your weight and age, so I guess that changes the formula that the machine uses to calculate the calories burned and the distance you go. How accurate are these machines? I noticed that when I workout at my gym I burn more calories on the treadmill than I do when I go to drive my little work. I tested it and walked at the same rate (4.0) on each treadmill for the same amount of time. I burned 175 calories in 30 minutes using the treadmill at the training center my work. I burned 280 calories in 30 minutes using the treadmill at my gym. I always start slow (3.5) and pick up speed after 5 minutes. Yes, I entered my weight for two (but that of my work has an option to enter your age). I have not used a slope the weather.
A lot of ellipticals today include calorie counters, but keep in mind that these may vary depending on the accuracy of the brand, make and model. Generally, the more information you have at the entrance, the most specifies a calorie counter on an elliptical machine will. For example, if the number of calories expended is measured only by how long you've been the development and strength, you have found a very general estimate. If you have on elliptical trainer you are able to enter your age, weight and other information, the calories burned reading will be much more accurate.
