What is / are the best type of exercise (s) to do to lose weight and firm the skin on my buttocks and thighs?

I'm sitting Training "total body" for 30 minutes to an elliptical machine 4 times a week and I do squats (slow increase in weight) 2 times a week. I have only done this for a few weeks, but these exercises help over time? I do not consider myself fat, but I do shoot a lot of my weight below my waist, and I would lose some of the firm and perhaps some of that jiggle and cellulite! Feel at ease in a swimsuit again, it would be amazing:)
